Project Manager/Estimator

We are seeking an experienced project manager who can also double as an estimator to join our team of Hivers. In this dual role, you will have both pre- and post-project responsibilities, both of which are critical components to our success. It will require you to work with standardized proven processes and to collaborate daily with our sales, design, account management, project management and production teams.

Estimator Role Responsibilities:

On the estimator side, you will be responsible for reviewing estimate requests, design drawings and specifications with appropriate company personnel to gather necessary information to understand a project. This will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Reviewing projects and designs with the salesperson and designers prior to estimating a job, when appropriate
  • Obtaining price quotes from vendors
  • Completing timely and accurate estimates from floor plans, sketches, models, renderings, oral and/or written descriptions and other sources of information and submitting them in the correct processes
  • Maintaining documentation and records to support forecasted cost of project
  • Keeping current on changes in production methods, materials, labor costs and other standards
  • Resolving and dealing with discrepancies with cost challenges from co-workers
  • Meeting with shop workers and/or engineering to discuss fabrication methods
  • Attending sales presentations when asked to be part of the team

Project Manager Role Responsibilities: 

On the project manager side, once the estimate has been sold, you will be responsible for managing the project through production, ensuring it is completed on time, on budget and according to quality standards.  This will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Scheduling all project CAD and production launch meetings
  • Providing purchasing department with a list of materials needed to complete a project along with a timeline of when materials need to be in-house. If materials are shipping to a show, you will need to provide a complete shipping address and booth number.
  • Researching materials when necessary
  • Addressing any questions or concerns from account team regarding new build construction, lead times, use of materials, etc.
  • Developing project schedule and project checklist
  • Saving vendor estimates and purchase orders
  • Attending final client viewing to address any issues that may develop prior to packing and shipping
  • Leading post-show construction meeting on larger jobs
  • Maintaining change order logs on all projects, ensuring all changes have been noted on prints and are accounted for in estimates. (If this is not possible, you will need to let the team know of any additions/deletions/changes prior to completion of the project.)
  • Keeping open communication with the shop foreman and production manager during the production stage of all your projects and review quality standards when necessary

 Qualifications:

  • Experience as an estimator in the field of trade show exhibits, permanent marketing environments, millwork, and/or retail fixtures
  • Understanding of fabrication processes
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and renderings
  • Ability to work within firm deadlines
  • Ability to work and communicate professionally with others both internally and externally
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word programs)

Account Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Support sales team in winning new business and preserving existing client relationships
  • Interact and communicate directly with clients: maintain schedules, establish and monitor budgets, facilitate all event logistics in clients’ best interest
  • Liaise between clients and all internal departments (i.e. 3D Design, CAD Engineering, Warehouse, etc.) to ensure exemplary project execution
  • Obtain show related service quotes (i.e. shipping, labor) and coordinate with all associated vendors/partners
  • Facilitate project workflow (i.e. create requests for quote/design, issue job orders and complete post-event reconciliations) to ensure all client needs are relayed to internal departments and executed on time and on budget

Requirements:

  • One to two years minimum of event planning/management experience working directly with clients (BA/BS preferred)

Account Executive

BlueHive is looking for account executives to join our seasoned sales team. The main responsibility of an account executive is to create sales revenue for the company. The role of an AE at BlueHive is a full cycle sales position, so we hunt and farm…and everything in between! The AE also has a lot of flexibility on how to build their business, from picking industries to focus on to how you choose to market to potential clients. Responsibilities:

The AE is responsible for researching potential clients and their businesses, establishing rapport and conducting analyses with prospects to assess their current program and determine new objectives; servicing all aspects of client accounts, selling our products/service offerings, preparing proposals; attending shows; supervising setups/installations and ensuring setups reflect client’s expectations.

Other responsibilities include:

Warehouse Worker

Warehouse Apprentice

Are you enthusiastic, energetic and interested in hands-on work in the trade show industry? We are seeking a Warehouse Apprentice to join our team! Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will be cross trained on a variety of tasks related to our specific warehousing, storage and shipment services. This is an hourly paid, full-time warehouse position that can lead to a permanent position as a Warehouse Team Member upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Follow all company standard operating procedures as it relates to safety, quality, operations and people
  • Follow the training program and direction of trainer/mentor
  • Learn to operate a forklift, to load and unload trucks, stage product, store and retrieve product from warehouse racking and staging areas
  • Stack/un-stack products as needed, lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 65 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Follow written work instructions to pick appropriate product for assigned orders
  • Learn how to prepare and complete all customer orders including related documentation
  • Conduct work activities without adversely affecting the safety of yourself, co-workers and others
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Use company documents and laptop computer to conduct business as needed
  • General housekeeping and operator maintenance duties as assigned
  • Regular and on time attendance and ability to work overtime (both voluntary and mandatory) required
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license and a dependable vehicle
  • Ability to work a standard Monday through Friday, 40-hour week and overtime as necessary.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent degree is preferred

Experience:

  • No previous warehouse experience necessary but helpful
  • Experience operating a forklift is helpful

Skills:

  • Basic command of the English language (reading, writing and speaking)
  • Basic computer knowledge and use
  • Ability to communicate and function in a team environment

Exhibit Builder

Journeyman Carpenter / Exhibit Builder:

We are looking to add exhibit builders to our growing and enthusiastic team. We are seeking individuals that either have some exhibit building experience or are willing to be trained by our skilled exhibit craftsman to gain a valuable career in the trade show exhibit industry.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Assisting carpenters/exhibit builders on projects with the goal of learning and developing skills that will enable you to ultimately work independently
  • Work consists of, but is not limited to, learning and retaining construction methods, working with power and hand tools, providing tool maintenance, interpreting blueprints, finish sanding, laminating, stapling, product assembly, and removing waste and debris
  • Standing and working on your feet and lifting up to 80lbs.
  • Loading and unloading components and materials efficiently and safely
  • Always handling all exhibit components and products with care
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area, and following outlined safety protocols
  • Accurately and efficiently packing and preparing shipping crates
  • Must have a great work ethic and a respectful attitude, and be reliable and able to follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience in woodworking, carpentry, and/or cabinet building and use of both hand and power woodworking tools is a plus, but not required for this position
